Transatlantic views on Low Carbon Urban mobility
28 February, 13h00-14h30
Organiser: Edelman | The Centre
Venue: Avenue Marnix 22, B-1000 Brussels
The Transatlantic Low-Carbon Transport Dialogue Series
The US Congress is currently debating proposals to reauthorize a federal transportation bill. The EU forges ahead with its policy roadmap for transport and climate change. Though carbon reduction is only one of many considerations for local leaders, cities across the US and EU are investing in public transit, pedestrian, and bicycle networks, smart technologies, and performance pricing for parking and driving, among other strategies.
Carnegie Europe and The Centre invite you to join our panellists to discuss how the US and the EU are decarbonizing urban transport and consider some key questions:
- What is the reach of federal policy on urban sustainable transport?
- How effectively does it catalyse local implementation for carbon reduction outcomes?
- What are the most significant challenges for cities in implementation of urban sustainable mobility?
- How much should or does carbon reduction co-benefits factor into local urban mobility decisions?
With:
- Shin-pei Tsay, Director, Cities and Transportation Carnegie Endowment for International Peace
- Vincent Leniere, Clean Transport and Sustainable Urban Mobility Unit, DG MOVE, European Commission
- Heather Allen, Sustainable Development Manager, International Association of Public Transport
- Philippe Crist, International Transport Forum Research Centre, OECD
- Moderated by Martin Porter, General Manager, Edelman│The Centre.
